Shush No More!
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — This weekend country music fans will line the streets of LSU’s campus for the Bayou Country Superfest. Local musicians and artists, however, have an alternative for those seeking a different art form that evening.
On Saturday, May 28, four local bands and six visual artists will put on an indie-rock showcase at the Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge.
"This is going to be a full on rock show, so it's going to be fun," Jonathan Tillman, event organizer, said.
Local bands Hawkboy, Twin Killers, and Royal Teeth will perform along with the Austin-based band, Mobley. Not typical the typical genre of music heard in the Manship, the artists say it’s going to be a great opportunity to get their music heard by a different crowd.
"Every room that you go in you're entire life is completely different, so we try to explore that,” Christopher Lott, guitar player for Twin Killers, explained. “We're really excited about playing at the Manship Theatre."
As for the fine artists, the mixture of music and art is one that lends hand-in-hand.
"It’s amazing how much talent this city has right now, and that's the whole point of it, to let that secret out," Grace Emden, participating fine artist, summarized.
Tickets to the show are $10 and can be purchased at the Manship Theatre.
